Overview
The reports tab is where you can find valuable insights about your business. This will be a constantly growing area of the portal. Here’s a brief overview of some of the reports.
Procurement Cost and Sales Over Time
This chart has three layers. 1) How much you’re spending over time on all of your orders 2) Your sales over time, and 3) your profit over time. Ideally sales going up is the most important, but if your procurement costs can go up less than your sales, then your profit starts to increase. This can also help you plan your cash requirements, or make tweaks to your ordering cycles.
Item Procurement Breakdown
This chart has four layers. 1) How much you have spent on procuring each item. 2) The revenue generated by that item, and 3) the contribution margin, or the amount of next dollars this item has contributed to your bottom line. 4) The cumulative cost % is the cumulative procurement percentage that items contribute to your overall procurement cost. If, for example, you look at the first three items, you can see what percentage of your procurement costs they take up. You will notice that the curve’s slope levels out as the items you spend less money on add less of a percentage to your procurement costs. Where it tops out is what all the items on the screen represent as a percentage of your total procurement cost.
Recipe Profitability (Sales vs Cost)
This chart is designed to show you how well your different recipes are performing. The different dotted lines represent the gross profit margins. Your most profitable recipes fall on higher profit margin lines. Usually you will have a target gross margin range for your business, and this chart shows you how close each of your recipes are to that number. Recipes that fall on lower profit margin lines, might need closer inspection to make sure they're contributing to your business the way you want.
Contribution Margin
This chart shows you the total amount of gross profit each recipe is contributing to your business in the given time period. It is a combination of the margin, and sales volume. These are the most important “money makers” in your business.
