Overview
Categories organize products so buyers can browse the supplier catalog and storefront. A category can have a parent category to create a hierarchy.
Create a category
- Open Categories.
- Choose the new-category action.
- Enter Category Name and a useful description.
- Select a Parent Category when it belongs under an existing group.
- Add a category image where useful, then save.
Edit or reorganize
Open Edit Category to change the name, description, parent, or image. Check the resulting hierarchy and product assignments after reorganizing. A similarly named category is not automatically the same group.
Assign products
Use the product's available category controls to place it in the appropriate group. Check the storefront's category navigation to confirm buyers can find the product where they expect it.
Choose useful category names
Use terms your buyers understand, such as the product family or purchasing use. Keep the naming consistent across related categories. Categories should help browsing; they do not replace a product's SKU, pack size, availability, or approval setting.
If a product is missing from the storefront category
Check the product assignment, availability for sale, and any buyer-specific approval or visibility. Check that you are viewing the correct supplier storefront and category rather than assuming the product was deleted.
