Overview
A business unit is the part of your business with its own purchasing and inventory needs. It might be a shop, restaurant, stockroom, manufacturing operation, or dropshipping supplier. Choose the unit before working with its suppliers, items, and inventory.
Add a business unit
- Open Business Units and choose Add business unit.
- Select the Unit Type. Use the descriptions in the form to decide which workflow fits.
- Enter the business-unit name and requested address details. A dropship unit also asks for its supplier details; Procure to Produce asks for an ERP location.
- Review the currency, tax settings, and Default PO notes shown for the unit.
- Choose who should have access and review any billing confirmation before saving.
Work with the correct unit
Use the business-unit selector before importing suppliers or items, creating POs, receiving deliveries, or counting stock. A supplier or item in one unit does not necessarily exist in another. The Sales Orders view can span business units, so check its filters separately.
Review sync settings
Where supported, Business Units includes settings for syncing inventory and costs with a connected POS. Decide which system should supply the cost and where LineNow should send updates. Do not turn on competing cost sources without checking how your team maintains costs.
Archive a unit you no longer use
Use the available archive or deactivate action after reviewing outstanding work and account billing. Archived units are excluded from active-unit workflows. A paid unit may continue occupying a billed slot until the current billing period ends; check the subscription screen for the effective change.
If a unit is missing
Check your active account, assigned access, and whether the unit is archived. If Procure to Produce is unavailable, connect an ERP first. If a feature is missing inside a unit, check the unit type before changing permissions.
