Overview
A supplier relationship contains the defaults used when purchasing from that business. Review these independently of the supplier's contact and ordering method.
Edit the defaults
- Select the business unit and open the supplier's edit form.
- Review Purchasing defaults.
- Update the relevant SKU synchronization, minimum order amount, payment terms, currency, or PO-numbering controls.
- Read the explanations and save.
- Check the values on the next PO before confirming it.
SKU synchronization
Where enabled, the connected POS uses the supplier SKU and supported changes can sync automatically. Confirm that this is the SKU policy your team wants before enabling it; your existing sellable SKU may differ from the supplier's identifier.
Minimum order amount
The setting provides a warning for orders below the entered amount. Review that warning against the supplier's actual terms. It does not by itself establish that the supplier will accept an order below its minimum.
Currency and terms
Review the business-unit currency first, then any supplier currency override. Supplier currency changes apply to new POs; older POs retain the currency in which they were placed. Check the order's own payment terms rather than assuming a later relationship edit rewrites historical terms.
PO numbering
Choose the numbering template and review its example. Enter a custom prefix when the selected template uses one. Dropship can match a sales-order number; when that number already has a PO, the workflow can add a suffix to distinguish the next one.
Ordering notes
Keep reusable website or self-placed instructions in the supplier notes where offered. Use order-specific notes for the details of one purchase. Review no-reply-address warnings according to the chosen workflow: a confirmation sender and a PO recipient are different roles.
