Overview
Usage records what was consumed during a period. Stockroom issuance records supplies leaving for use, and returns record unused supplies coming back. None of these actions is the same as a physical count.
Record usage
- Open the inventory count-and-usage workflow for the correct unit.
- Choose Usage in LineNow, Print Usage Sheet, or CSV Usage where available.
- Review the period for the items being entered.
- Enter used packs or used units in the displayed denomination.
- Review and submit the entries, then check the saved result.
For CSV usage, keep the entry identifiers and period columns supplied by the template. They help distinguish an existing usage entry from new work.
Issue and return stockroom supplies
Use the Stockroom inventory actions that describe the actual movement. Review the available quantity and existing commitments before issuing stock. Record a return against the relevant movement where the workflow offers it, rather than adding a second physical receipt for the same supplies.
Understand committed inventory
Stock can be physically on hand but already committed to a request. Some issued commitments have already reduced physical stock. Review the committed or deducted state before treating the quantity as freely available or deducting it again.
Avoid recording the same usage twice
Check whether consumption already comes from a connected sales channel, a linked recipe, production, or an earlier manual entry. Use manual usage for the activity it is intended to fill, not as an extra deduction on top of the same automated event.
If the result looks wrong
Check period dates, packs versus units, item scope, the original issue or usage entry, and Stock Activity. Use a physical count only when you are actually establishing the current quantity, not merely to hide an unexplained movement.
